Member Eligibility

Any psychologist with a doctorate or masters degree, licensable in the State of Michigan, is eligible to become a member of our parent organization, Michigan Psychological Association, and thus WPS.  Graduate students in recognized psychology training programs are also eligible for membership.  Our recruiting area consists of Washtenaw and Livingston Counties, as well as western Wayne County.  Members are expected to live or work in this area, though the Steering Committee can make exceptions for applicants who have a compelling reason to join.

There is no cost to join WPS and no annual dues.  However, our members are expected to join MPA, which provides financial support for our meetings and authorizes CE credits for our educational presentations.  We have no paid staff and rely on the efforts of our dedicated volunteers, including an unpaid undergraduate psychology major from the University of Michigan.

Members are welcome to invite guests from other professions to our talks but not to our business meetings.  Our meetings have traditionally been 2-4 PM on the second Sunday of each month (except August and December).  Due to the current pandemic, we have transitioned to virtual meetings on Zoom.

Potential members should contact us for a link to our application survey.  Non-psychologists who wish to learn more about WPS are welcome to contact us.
